Consumerism has evolved into one of the major challenges to the spiritual life of contemporary society by shaping human orientation toward possession, the fulfillment of desires, and the pursuit of material satisfaction. This condition influences not only patterns of consumption but also the way individuals understand identity, happiness, and their relationship with God. This article aims to examine the spirituality of gratitude as a theological response to consumerism from the perspective of Christian spirituality. The study employs a qualitative method using a library research approach by analyzing relevant books and scholarly publications on Christian spirituality, gratitude, and consumer culture. The findings reveal that the spirituality of gratitude should not be understood merely as an emotional expression or a temporary response to God's blessings, but as a spiritual practice that shapes Christian life through an awareness of God's grace. Gratitude forms a God-centered identity, cultivates contentment, redirects human desires from materialistic orientations toward the values of the Kingdom of God, and encourages a lifestyle characterized by simplicity, responsible stewardship, and concern for others. Consequently, the spirituality of gratitude functions as a countercultural practice that offers an alternative way of life capable of critically responding to the logic of contemporary consumer culture. This article contributes to the development of Christian spirituality by positioning gratitude as a formative spiritual practice that is relevant for the Church and believers in addressing the challenges of modern consumerism.
