Review Process
Pre-Review Stage
- Every submitted article will first be checked by the Managing Editor.
- If it meets the Author Guidelines: Forwarded to the Reviewer.
- If it does not meet the guidelines but is interesting: Returned to the Author for revision.
- If the substance is uninteresting and does not follow the template: Rejected.
Review Stage
- If the Editor finds the content of the article interesting for publication and it complies with the Kognisio Article Template, the Managing Editor assigns a member of the Editorial Team to handle it.
- The assigned Editor will select and assign two Peer Reviewers to evaluate the article and provide feedback.
- The timeframe given to the Peer Reviewers is 4 (four) weeks: two weeks to accept or decline the assignment, and two weeks to conduct the review.
- After completing the review, the Peer Reviewers send the review results to the Editor.
- The Editor checks if the review results are sufficient: the article is sent to the Author for follow-up. In this case, the Editor may provide additional notes to the Author.
Revision Stage
- The Author revises the article according to the feedback from the Reviewers and resubmits it to the Editor.
- The Editor checks the revisions. If sufficient, the article is declared "Accepted" and forwarded to Copyediting. If not, it is returned to the Author for further revisions with notes on which sections still need to be revised.
Editing Stage
- The "Accepted" article will be edited by the Editor to ensure compliance with the Guidelines and Article Template, completeness of article metadata, and the article's galley.
- Once completed, the Editor will send the article to the publication preparation stage.
Publication Stage
- The Editor In Chief conducts a final check on the eligibility and readiness of the article for publication.
- If eligible, the Managing Editor adds the article to the list of articles for the upcoming Volume.
- Once all articles are ready, the Managing Editor publishes the Volume on the journal's website for open access.
