LIVING A SPIRITUALITY OF GRATITUDE IN THE AGE OF CONSUMERISM:
A Study in Spiritual Theology

Budaya konsumerisme telah berkembang menjadi salah satu tantangan utama bagi kehidupan spiritual masyarakat modern karena membentuk orientasi hidup yang berpusat pada kepemilikan, pemenuhan hasrat, dan pencarian kepuasan material. Kondisi tersebut tidak hanya memengaruhi perilaku konsumsi, tetapi juga membentuk cara manusia memahami identitas, kebahagiaan, dan relasinya dengan Allah. Artikel ini bertujuan mengkaji spiritualitas syukur sebagai respons teologis terhadap budaya konsumerisme melalui perspektif teologi spiritualitas. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan kepustakaan (library research) yang menganalisis berbagai buku dan artikel ilmiah yang relevan mengenai spiritualitas Kristen, syukur, dan budaya konsumerisme. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa spiritualitas syukur tidak dapat dipahami hanya sebagai ungkapan emosional atau respons sesaat atas berkat Allah, melainkan sebagai praktik spiritual yang membentuk cara hidup orang percaya berdasarkan kesadaran akan kasih karunia Allah. Spiritualitas syukur berperan membentuk identitas yang berpusat pada Allah, menumbuhkan rasa cukup (contentment), mengarahkan kembali hasrat manusia dari orientasi materialistik kepada nilai-nilai Kerajaan Allah, serta mendorong gaya hidup yang sederhana, bertanggung jawab, dan peduli terhadap sesama. Dengan demikian, spiritualitas syukur memiliki daya kontrakultural karena menghadirkan cara hidup alternatif yang mampu merespons secara kritis logika budaya konsumerisme kontemporer. Artikel ini berkontribusi dalam memperkaya kajian teologi spiritualitas dengan menempatkan spiritualitas syukur sebagai praktik pembentukan kehidupan Kristen yang relevan bagi gereja dan orang percaya dalam menghadapi tantangan budaya konsumsi modern.
